The weather in Tenerife
The Canary Islands are situated in the Atlantic Ocean a few hundred miles off the west coast of Africa. Tenerife is the largest of the islands and takes approximately 4 hours flying time from the U.K. Most airports in the U.K. fly to Tenerife. The Canary Isles are part of Spain so the language in Tenerife is Spanish although English is widely spoken. During the past 30 years Tenerife has developed into one of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe. Tenerife can more or less guarantee the sun all year round.

Tenerife has one of the best climates in the world, during the winter months the average temperature is 20C with the odd spot of rain whereas during the summer months the temperature reaches 30C with a nice breeze off the Atlantic Ocean.
Tenerife besides having very localized weather at times can have three distinct weather zones. The southern part (Playa de las Americas, Los Gigantes): drier and warmer than the northern part:greener, wetter and sometimes cooler (Puerto de la Cruz). Spains highest mountain “El Teide” is the third climate, which of course at higher altitudes can be cooler (winter).
This means that you can pretty much choose the weather that you want that day! If you fancy seeing some snow then take a trip up to Mount Teide, which is often covered in snow during the winter months, then take a drive down to the beach for a swim in the sea and enjoy temperatures of about 22C.
So when you’re packing for your holiday in Tenerife just remember to pack all different sorts of clothing, you may need a jumper and a jacket in the north or on the mountain, but you will definitely need your swimming costumes in the south!
There are not many places on earth where you can pick an Island that you want to holiday on, and you can pick your own climate depending on where you visit that day, so enjoy it while you can!
