My hairy horror story By Staff reporter
A warm climate like the Canary Islands is conducive to very little clothing. The idea of very little clothing means for most women a constant battle with hair removal. Legs like Boris the Spider do not really go with that little floral dress. Any woman with a remotely average hair growth will appreciate the battle of having to shave your legs every morning. No sooner have you waxed, the re-growth starts to come through, and by the evening you are back where you started.

Juice up your day An apple a day may be rumoured to keep the doctor away, but whether living on or visiting any of the Canary Islands it’s another fruit that is more likely to form a daily part of your diet. And while you might assume that the climate here means colds and flu won’t bother you or your family, that isn’t the case – so maintaining a healthy intake of vitamin C can be extremely beneficial. Just look at the locals – in every bar you can get a freshly squeezed orange juice.

Aromatherapy The use of Aromatherapy has been traced back to Neanderthal man, who archaeologists believe was one of the first users of plant-based medicines. History recorded by ancient scribes documents the therapeutic use of plants and scented oils long before the birth of Christ. Hieroglyphics tell us that Egyptians used aromatic plants for both medicinal and religious purposes. Although the Egyptians initiated the art of extracting essences form plants by heating them in clay containers, it was Greek alchemists who invented the method of distilling oils from plants by boiling or steaming them. Many years later the Crusaders learned improved methods of distillation and brought this skill back to their own countries.
