Pool Safety at Home
According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission an estimated 260 children under the age of five drown each year in residential swimming pools and spas. The Commission also estimated that another 3,000 children under the age of five are treated in casualty following submersion accidents each year. Some of these accidents have left children with severe permanent brain damage. Coming to live in the Canary Islands means for many residents a complete change of lifestyle. Not many of us were lucky enough to have our own pools back home but most of us here are lucky enough to have if not a communal pool then at least access to a swimming pool.
