Santa Cruz - 06.05.2008 - Ironically the ruling is based on the Council's own regulations which state that markets cannot be sited within 350 metres of public buildings. The flea market, which draws thousands of locals and tourists every week-end, stretches fom the Nuestra Señora de Africa fruit market to the official offices of the region's president. The council plans to change its regulations as soon as possible to remove the 350-metre clause but must first file an appeal against the court ruling before Thursday or risk having to close the market.
