Los Cristianos - 07.05.2008 - Los Cristianos is one of four venues short-listed for the crucial event in September and the island's government has spent time and effort on the bid. Technical officials from the Tennis Federation have visited Los Cristianos to check on facilities but is has now emerged that Madrid was promised the tie some time ago by the Federation's chairman, ignoring the team's request to play near the sea rather than at altitude. Spain's Davis Cup captain Emilio Sánchez-Vicario, who has tennis interests in Tenerife, is believed to have threatened to resign over the promise.
