Valle Gran Rey - 07.05.2008 - The goat's plight has become a spectacle for tourists and locals in Valle Gran Rey in recent days and has featured prominently on Canarian TV. According to the authorities, the animal is trapped on an overhanging rock on the sheer cliff face and is dying of starvation. Permission was granted to put the goat out of its misery today using a sniper's rifle but the animal rights group has applied for an injunction to halt the shooting to allow another rescue attempt. Locals say a foreign tourist tried to reach the goat last week and had to be rescued by helicopter after becomiong trapped on the ledge.
