La Gomera - 16.05.2008 - A late deal struck between the company and the Canarian government means that the popular hydrofoil service will continue for another month, until June 15, to enable the operator to study proposals for a tender to be awarded for the service after the summer. Once the month-long extension ends, the government will seek another company to operate the route on a provisional basis for up to four months until the tender conditions have been decided. Garajonay Express want a public subsidy to continue the service but the government refuses to entertain the request unless the firm competes with other comopanies interested in covering the route.
