Canary Islands - 23.06.2008 - Tens of thousands of people are expected at hundreds of fires across the Canaries, including many on beaches. The Fire Brigade is set to have its busiest night of the year attending calls to deal with fires that go out of control and spread to nearby scrubland, although the cooler weather conditions today in several parts may reduce the problem considerably. Las Palmas City Council has provided almost half a ton of fireworks for use in the celebrations tonight along the beach at Las Canteras.
