Granadilla - 24.06.2008 - The Parliament's Petitions' Committee is to meet to discuss complaints by opponents of the port that the recently-created Observatory, which is supposed to ensure the facility does not harm the environment, is not an independent body, one of the requirements ordered by the EU for authorisation for the port. Critics say the new body was set up by the government and its director is a political appointee and therefore not impartial or neutral.
