Last day for tax returns

Today is the last day for people to file their annual tax returns to Hacienda. Despite the widely-reported teething problems with forms completed directly by the Tax Office and sent to individuals, no extension has been contemplated to accommodate late submissions.

30.06.2008 - Long queues are expected throughout the day in the various Offices, as well as in banks throughout the Canaries which can process the forms for customers. Many bank branches have said they will stay open late this evening to take in the returns. Late returns automatically incur a financial penalty from Hacienda.
