Bus company management criticisedCalls for bus company TITSA to rethink its business plan have been made after the revelation that the island's Cabildo had to bail it out to the tune of 23 million euros last year.

Santa Cruz - 01.07.2008 - With another 13 million euros from the regional government and Madrid, the total amount of public money used to keep the company operating amounted to 36 million euros. Critics say the current routes are poorly-planned and staffing is too high. TITSA was taken over by the Cabildo last year in a bid to streamline public transport provision in Tenerife following the entry into service of the tram link between the capital and La Laguna. The funding revelations will add to pressure for changes at senior management in TITSA.
