School kept open in summer to accommodate young Africans The Canarian government has had to open a Tenerife school to house dozens of young Africans temporarily. The influx of migrants in recent weeks has saturated existing centres and a school in Los Baldíos outside La Laguna is to be used as a temporary home for up to one hundred youngsters.

Parents of children at the school have been assured it will be back to normal in mid-August in readiness for the new term.
