Salmonella poisoning hits 80 80 people who ate in a cafeteria in the centre of Las Palmas on Tuesday have been affected by food poisoning, according to the local health authorities.

It is believed the cause of the problem was a sauce used to make sandwiches. 10 people were still in hospital last night due although none was in a serious condition.  The Department of Health ordered the immediate closure of the premises and another cafeteria run by the same company in a shopping centre in Vecindario.
