Las Palmas - 18.07.2008 - The Department of Health confirmed media reports that the initial figure given yesterday had been under-estimated and the total number of people who have needed treatment was now one hundred. Thirteen children were still in hospital in the city last night, along with eighteen adults. The authorities do not expect the figure to rise further becasue the incubation period for the salmonella has already passed. The outbreak was detected on Tuesday and has been traced to a sandwich bar in a Las Palmas shipping centre.
