San Bartolomé de Tirajana - 14.08.2008 - A spokesman said the council in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, which is responsible for resorts such as Maspalomas, needs to fulfil its obligations and not look to the island's Cabildo to provide the clean-up squads. He added that areas near beaches, such as the palm gardens at Maspalomas, need to be kept tidy directly by the council in order not to cause a bad impression on the thousands of tourists who walk past daily. The comments came after complaints from the business sector in the south at the poor state of several popular zones.
