Santa Cruz - 26.08.2008 - The suspect, also Latvian, was detained in the centre of the Tenerife capital after a 4-day surveillance of Internet cafés in the Calle Castillo area. Officers also travelled on the city's tram network for several days after a confirmed sighting of the suspect, who police say flew from Latvia to Tenerife to commit the crime and had already sent a series of SMS death threats to his former partner. It is believed he gained access to her flat by disguising himself.
