Budget blow for CanariesThe Canaries will suffer a major spending cut in next year's Budget, details of which were announced yesterday by Spain's finance minister.

Canary Islands - 01.10.2008 - Direct funding allocated to the Islands will amount to 283 euros per person, well below the 548 euro average for the rest of the country. However, Madrid insists that the Canaries do better than other regions in terms of other forms of public investment (including subsidised air travel for residents here) and the figure has to be taken in that context.
