Canary Islands - 02.10.2008 - Unions have opted to delay the action planned for today to give them time to organise a bigger and better coordinated protest beginning on 4 November. The teachers say they are willing to negotiate with the Department fo Education at any time up until then as long as the talks include 'serious consideration' of their demand for equal pay with other civil servants. The dispute over pay and conditions has lasted for over a year and shows no signs of being resolved.
