Dogs' home closed

The Punta Brava dogs' home in Puerto de la Cruz was finally and forcibly closed yesterday by police as last ditch efforts to halt the closure failed.

Puerto de la Cruz - 08.10.2008 - The destruction of the installation has been approved by the council as it lies in the path of the a new access road from Los Realejos to Puerto de la Cruz. 27 of the dogs were moved without incident to the Acción del Sol refuge in Granadilla with the help of volunteers from Punta Brava. Nine more were left behind and will be housed temporarily with a vet in La Orotava until places can be found for them.
