08.10.2008 - Amid dramatic scenes, many were physically carried or dragged away from their homes which had been deemed to infringe coastal limits. An excavator demolished the first building by 11am while the former inhabitants sought refuge at the homes of family or friends, having lost everything. The excavator operator stopped short of the last house, the home of Cho Vito, the fisherman who gave his name to this former fishing village.
