Soldering fire brought under control

A blaze caused by soldering work near scrubland in La Palma has been contained after several hours by fire teams.

La Palma - 10.10.2008 - Strong winds caused the sparks from the soldering to settle on dry grass and weeds in a ravine near Puntagorda and a fire soon started. As the flames moved up the hillside a helicopter was sent in to dumpg thousands of litres of water from the air to damped the ground and prevent tyhe fire from spreading to the forest. It was eventually contained jujst after 7.30pm.
