La Gomera - 14.10.2008 - An elderly couple and a close friend lost their lives when their car careered down a steep ravine at the notorious Degollada de Peraza, one of the island's most photographed vantage spots. The car left the Playa de Santiago road as it tried to overtake a bus. One of the occupants was thrown from the car as it rolled 300 metres down the ravine while the other two died on impact inside the vehicle. The bodies had to be recovered by helicopter due to the steep terrain.
