Tenerife - 28.11.2008 - Various competitors and small shops are believed to have sought clarification of the regulations after news of the late-night opening broke a short time ago. The government has responded saying that the 90 hours per week ceiling is an average figure across the year and shops are free to decide how best to distribute the hours. Carrefour, which opens until midnight in some cities on the mainland, is recruiting 130 new staff in its shops in Aņaza and the centre of Santa Cruz to cope with demand in the coming six weeks.
