Apparently up to one in four Canarian adopt a bad posture when sleeping. According to the study 26 per cent of people here sleep on their stomach, the worst possible sleeping position according to specialists.

Las Palmas - 22.09.2004 - On the other hand the study also found that 24 per cent sleep on their backs, considered the healthiest position.  Over half of those questioned also said that when they wake in the morning they feel adequately rested. 
Spanish people, on average sleep for seven hours and ten minutes, with Canarians managing to grab four more minutes than the rest of Spain.  However this could also be down to the fact that after the Basque Country more Canarians sleep alone than in the peninsula!
On a more painful note, 47 per cent of people complained of back pain in the last year, just one point below the national average.
