18.10.2004 - According to the regional health department 16 per cent of women suffering menopause in the Canaries experience severe difficulties in enjoying day to day life.

The president of the Spanish Association of Menopause Studies (AEEM), Santiago Palacios (a man!) has come out in defence of women’s right to adapt to this new period of their lives with as little suffering as possible.

Although menopause is still tabu for many men and women, today more and more doctors are in favour of offering a personalised health care programme responding to the needs of each woman.
