| | El Fraile, Arona - 21.10.2004 - Opened 35 years ago, the El Fraile school has 1,000 pupils and 56 teachers. Children from over 80 different nationalities attend the school and to help those that have just arrived from different parts of the world the school offers special Spanish tutorials. Frequently the visiting teachers actually sit in a class with the new children and make sure they understand the lessons.
According to the director, Antonia María León Rosa, capacity is becoming a serious problem. Almost every year, new class rooms have been built on school grounds, sacrificing play grounds and sport facilities and the town hall have had to rent out halls outside the school to cater for new students. However, the problem should be solved once the primary school for Guargacho is completed.
