A Sign of Times?

Violence, bullying, drugs, thefts and pranks on school buses are just a few of the reasons that have led the parents of children from Las Galletas school that use this form of transport to demand police escort.

Las Galletas - 22.10.2004 - One mother reported to local paper Diario de Avisos that a foreign student was attacked by other children a few weeks ago and that a large group of children had to walk to their homes or wait for their parents to pick them up when a woman bus driver refused to continue the route through Guaza because children were throwing paper balls at her.

The director of Las Galletas’ school Rosario Rivero, declared that a child was recently attacked on the bus by other children and that extra vigilance is a must to avoid these incidents.
According to the regional Education department, police escorts are being introduced on school buses progressively – a sad sign of times?
