Canary Islands - 05.05.2008 - The 4-2 scoreline could have been much worse for the islanders, for whom the end of the season cannot come soon enough after a run of five games without a win. Numancia virtually guaranteed automatic promotion to the 1st division and showed why they have topped the table for most of the year. Meanwhile, Las Palmas maintained their recent unbeaten form with a 1-1 home draw against Castellón. The results leaves the Gran Canaria side on 46 points, to points behind Tenerife and safe for the moment, although a poor run in the next few weeks would see them back in the thick of the fight to avoid one of the four relegation places.
