30.06.2008 - Bars across the country stayed open late to allow tens of thousands of supporters to continue the street celebrations which began as soon as the final whistle was blown. Even Germans who had turned out in massive numbers in the resorts to follow the game on bar screens stayed on despite the disappointment of missing out on the trophy. The win was Spain's first major football success since 1964. Gran Canaria's David Silva was the only player from the Canaries to feature in the Spain side, playing in all but one of the games.
